[Answer in Dutch]
You can rent chairs, windbreakers and umbrellas at various beach pavilions in Dishoek.
[Answer in Dutch]
As far as we know it is permitted to search the beach of Dishoek with a metal detector.
General information
Generally it is allowed to search the Dutch beaches using a metal detector at amateur level. Metal detection is a search method for finding metal objects in the ground. Beach searchers use a metal detector to find lost items (jewelry and coins) of bathers.
Of course, Dutch laws and regulations also apply on the beach. This means that you, also when searching on beach, need to take the following into account: Law on Archaeological Heritage, the Monuments law, the weapons and ammunition law, the local General Local Regulation (APV), Lost and Found items according to the civil law etc. Aside from that you should always leave behind your search location the way you found it. In other words, neatly close any dug holes.
A local municipality may decide to prohibit the use of a metal detector (detection ban) via the General Local Regulation. Therefore always check the General Local Regulation and/or contact the municipality where you wish to search. Dishoek is subject to the municipality of Veere. Here you will find contact information about this municipality: http://www.veere.nl/

Are the beach pavilions in Dishoek open during the winter (December, January, February)?
[Answer in Dutch]
Several beach pavilions in Dishoek are during the winter period open every weekend.
I plan to spend a weekend in December in Dishoek. Are all restaurants, beach pavilions and shops also open in the winter months?
[Answer in Dutch]
Most shops, beach clubs, bars, terraces and restaurants remain open during the weekends in the low season. Many are also open throughout the week.
Each year the low season in Dishoek begins after the autumn holidays till the beginning of the spring holidays. Several shops, beach clubs and restaurants use this period to rebuild, renew or for vacation. As a result, during this low season period, not all stores are opened every day.
Furthermore there is no general period when all the restaurants, bars and shops are closed. All entrepreneurs determine the temporary closure individually. Therefore is there are, also in the low season, enough shops and restaurants opened for you to enjoy.

How long will the work take on the beach of Dishoek?
[Answer in Dutch]
By the end of April Rijkswaterstaat (Ministry of Waterways and Public works) will begin to raise the beach levels between Dishoek und Vlissingen. This sand spraying will take about four weeks.
The work is regarding the beach before the hotel Arion in Vlissingen to the beach pavilion of De Boomerang in Dishoek.
Why?
The dunes and beaches are the most important protection against the sea in the Netherlands. Annually a lot of sand disappears from the coast due to wind, sea and currents. Beaches also lose terrain due to the rising sea level. By putting new sand back, the coast line stays intact naturally, and the land behind the dunes remain well protected from the sea.
Will I be inconvenienced by the work?
During the reclamation of the beach the area where work will be performed is temporarily closed off to beachgoers and water sport enthusiasts. During the work there's a risk that quicksand occurs. Also heavy machinery will be driving around such as bulldozers and shovels. At the beach entrances visitors will be informed about the progress with information signs.
Sand may be more dusty than usual on and near freshly sprayed beaches if there are high winds. This is not very pleasant for beach visitors, but it's necessary for the nature in the dune area. It ensures that the sand moves around in a more natural way and rises with the sea level.
This is all subject to change, during the actual work, the planning may be adjusted. More information is available at: http://www.rws.nl/
Further, we also recommend reading the information board, with the local beach rules, which is often placed near every beach (entrance).
